John Hixson has practiced civil law for more than 30 years and brings a wealth of experience to every case he is involved with. The Hixson Law Firm serves clients in Mansfield, Arlington, Grand Prairie and other nearby Texas communities and is now considered one of the area’s top law firms.
A native of Topeka, Kansas, John moved to Arlington in 1974. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Cum Laude) from Trinity University in 1979 and received his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University’s School of Law in 1982. After practicing construction and real estate law as corporate counsel for five years, he opened his own practice in Arlington in 1988.
Since that time, he has focused on civil law matters, including real estate, bankruptcy, collection, family law, and wills and probate matters. His experience includes extensive trial and appellate work
A member of the State Bar of Texas, John has been licensed to practice law in the State of Texas since November 1982. He was admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas in April 1983.
Throughout the course of his practice, John has dealt with virtually all aspects of family law. In particular, he has concentrated on bankruptcy law for individuals and small businesses, providing compassionate, experienced representation for individuals and going through difficult Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. He has kept abreast of the latest developments in Texas bankruptcy laws through consistent investment in continuing education classes.
Protecting the assets and the legacy of his clients has always been a top priority for John. Providing peace of mind through various estate planning tools and processes, he has helped numerous families prepare for the future. His thorough knowledge of wills and trusts, as well as with real estate matters and probate law has worked to his clients’ advantage since he first opened his practice.
John graduated from Lamar High School in 1975 before serving in the Army Reserve/National Guard from 1980 – 1988. He spent the summer of 1980 at Fort Benning Georgia (11B Infantry) Commissioned as an Armor Officer in 1982 (UTA – ROTC).
For the past 23 years, his focus has been on raising three children, practicing law and serving as a Bible study leader (BSF) and Sunday School teacher for 3-year-olds. John’s experience has taught him God’s love for everyone through the study of the Bible and especially through teaching preschool children who are a great witness to God’s unconditional love.
